Brooklands Manchester University HC and BrooklandsPoynton HC are a premier Hockey Club in the North West of England. The club enjoys a vibrant social side and a successful Ladies section at our stunning brand new clubhouse.
Season 2009/10 will be the eighth since we merged with Manchester University Men's HC and the first since we merged with Poynton HC, and the addition of a strong stream of talented young players has greatly enhancing our playing and coaching facilities. Our training sessions are run by Professional Coaches, both at our club and at the university for the students.
Brooklands is situated in Sale, Cheshire, with superb public transport links to the city of Manchester, the University of Manchester, Salford University and the airport, as well as being at the hub of the motorway system in the north. Brooklands Sports Club enjoys 14 acres of privately owned grounds. Only 20 yards from the clubhouse we have a brand new AstroTurf playing area for hockey as well other outdoor sports pitches, such as Tennis, Lacrosse, Cricket and Bowls.
For the men, if you are a student at the University of Manchester you can play for Brooklands MUHC on the Saturday whilst the University retain their BUSA status for their traditional inter-university Wednesday hockey. The merged Club is based at Brooklands Sports Club, but also makes use of University sports facilities at the Armitage Center Sports ground and the Belle Vue Hockey Centre in Manchester.
The traditional sports pavilion has recently been replaced with a modern building shared with Dragons Health Club. This has brought professional management to the Club bar and changing facilities, making them second to none. Visitors are immediately struck by the modern surroundings and facilities at the Club. The hockey club runs:
The Club retains its vigour and ambition to stay on top. New members are always welcome. If you want more information you can reach us on the contact us page, and you will be sure to receive a warm welcome. See individual team details for details of training nights
