Brooklands Ladies 4th team took on Alderley Edge 6s on Saturday and earned a well fought point in a 1-1 draw.
There were some fantastic performances right through the team with Jess Hickman picking up the our vote for Man of the Match award for a commanding performance in goal. She did however also get the vote vote 'Duck of the day' for her impression of a fish out of water when she thought she was lay on the ball and couldnt get up!!
The defense looked solid and held strong fighting off some fast and hard balls, midfield worked tirelessly despite unseasonably warm weather to chase every ball, and they were supported by a front 3 who had chances and some great shots on target that on another day could have won the match for Brooklands.
Grace Gill gave Brooklands the lead in the first half with a great strike after cutting in from the right, but unfortunately Alderley leveled in the second half through Emma Fluck. This did not deter us...with tired legs and hot red faces everyone kept up their strength and played through to the end.
A much improved performance and result for Brooklands who will look to move on as a team next weekend.
Grace Gill, rightly so was voted Man of the match by the opposition for her quacking goal!!
Well done girls!!
