it appeared an interesting day was ahead.
After an inspiring team briefing from Mulford the men headed out for a mediocre warm up. However, this didn't continue into the game and from the outset the team played with an intensity that meant business.
It would appear Jeffs prolific preseason was not to be continued into the season and despite Andrews rattling the woodwork after a majestic run the first half finished 0-0. Little made it aware to his troops that he was pleased with the position they were in and urged the squad to give more in order to achieve the dream start to the season.
The deadlock was broken by a precise deflection from Gilbody that nestled its way into the bottom corner. The second came I quick succession from Leigh who wobbled his was past three and tucked it calmly over the keepers left shoulder. The momentum continued and with Brooklands maintaining control. The third came from a great piece of interaction between forwards with a precision aerial from Jeffs to Chairmen Andrews who threaded the perfect pass through Dudley who rifled the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0.
The foot came of the pedal for Brooklands and the fantastic defensive performance was soiled with Oxton taking a consolation goal with Richmond picking the ball from his net only a few minutes before the final whistle.
Job done for Mulfords Men, a promising start to the season.
