With reading week in full flow some players were not available which meant yet again a changed team. With Anton and Duds vying for leading goal-scorer the forwards should have been piling to the right areas (and that does not mean "The Factory"). Some sloppy defending meant we got turned over and Alex was unable to cope with their forward. With the coach insisting we avoid, going into contact, passing through contact etc, we continued to do exactly what was not required and made it hard for ourselves. However, the chances kept on coming and number of forwards had chances. In addition, our short corners were not really firing. (guess what is coming at training boys).
On the stroke of half-time, reliable goal a game Anton popped up to fire home from close range. Half time came and a frank discussion took place about what we should be doing. The second half began with a load of pressure and Robbie Radcliffe and Duds causing mayhem by attacking their back line sometime with positive results. However, against the run of play Sefton scored from a turnover. Brooklands continues to press and Sefton started conceding cards, but the breakthrough did not result. The wise old sage on the side decided upon a kicking back with 5 mins to go, much the surprise of a number the less wise. The only issue which resulted was wondering if Siddy could squeeze into a bib. A number of corners were forced and on the final whistle we forced another corner. A huddle ensued and after a goalmouth scramble the ginger prince George Jones scored with composed head to gain the draw.
