The second home game of the season welcomed Doncaster Ladies. With the opening game seeing no home points secured, BPHC were looking to follow the success of last week’s win with their first home points of the season. Last year’s fixture saw a smash and grab by Doncaster and so the home team were keen to seek amends for that result. The game got underway with BPHC's intentions clear. The pressure placed upon the visiting side's defence and some excellent passages of attacking play saw the opening goal in just 5minutes from Vez Whinnerah. A well-built move from the back finished clinically. It was not too much longer before Whinnerah was involved again, winning a penalty stroke. The stroke was converted by Turner, shortly followed by her second goal, this time from open play, 2 minutes later. Despite the comfortable lead of 3-0 after the opening 15minutes the play itself was far from comfortable with Donny opting for a more physical game than a passing game. The home team allowed themselves to be rattled and became drawn down a level allowing Donnie a lifeline through the games second penalty stroke. Despite getting a glove to the ball, Thomas was unable to keep the score at 3-0 and so the half-time score was 3-1. The second half was again made a physical battle by the visitors making the home team lose focus at times. However BPHC continued to create goal scoring opportunities and only for some fantastic saves by the Donny Keeper was the score line kept at 3-1. MoM went to Kate 'I'm not scared of Miche' Harris, with a solid performance against her old club. Can't recall who got DoD but I'm pretty sure it was a fix by Jess 'Tactics' Berry! Next week’s fixture will be a tougher task versus Beeston away, followed by the EH Cup away to Ben Rhydding who have joined the league this season following promotion in April. The next home game is Sat Oct 20th at 12noon versus Durham Uni.
