We can score goals!!!!! Wilmslow 2s v Brooklands 3s (2-0)

For our third league game of the season we were determined not to repeat previous performances where we conceded early goals. To this end we implemented our new warm up routine and came on to the pitch raring to go. Despite a strong start from Wilmslow which necessitated some fabulous saves from our rookie goal keeper, Theresa, our defence was solid, and we reached half-time without conceding a goal! As we settled into the game, we started to pass the ball around and gave the Wilmslow defence a few headaches. However, we were unable to break through and the first half ended with a 0-0 score line.

In the second half, we conceded, due to an amazing own goal from Holly Dixon, who clearly wanted the prize of the award for ‘Own Goal of The Season’ from her mum, Pamela! A goal that would make any forward proud!!! However, we do need to start scoring at the right end!! The Dixons are leading the goal scoring sheet for all the wrong reasons!! Despite this early set-back, we kept our heads up and battled on, only to concede a second goal with about 5 mins to go, thanks to a superbly executed short corner from Wilmslow.

The game ended 2-0. Although not the result we hoped for, we have shown a massive improvement in just three games, and can take a lot of positives from the game. There were a number of great individual performances, notably from Lauren in just her second game for the team, and Theresa, who was assured in goal.
