Oooohhh Soo near!!!!

Could the team maintain the improvements of recent weeks on a freezing cold late dark Saturday afternoon and secure their first win of the season?
The early signs were not hopeful as Deeside’s passing was slicker than Brooklands’ and Brooklands couldn’t quite get their passing going with the rhythm of the last couple of weeks.
However, the team kept plugging away and defended bravely, and at one point during the game had to defend what seemed like a constant stream of short corners and Deeside attacks. The fact that the team only let one goal in can be credited to the constant resolute defence and some spectacular saves from our superb Goalkeeper Theresa; the team’s new goalkeeper, which brought rousing cheers from those who had braved the freezing weather to watch the game.
However, all was not doom and gloom on the attacking front. Amy did some great work in front of the back four, especially keeping at bay Deeside's main play maker number 28, whom was Deeside's main strength and Brookland's main threat, Lauren, a constant threat on the left wing did some excellent work, keeping the ball wide and some excellent ball skills right down that left wing, with Maz going like a little ferret around the opposition, picking up key balls and great passes, and Michelle (as usual) drove forward whenever possible, with excellent work rate as normal.
As usual Brooklands came out fighting in the Second half after another rousing team talk my Ms Captain PD- Maybe she should start selling these to other teams???? lol The team struture was more bouyant and positive, and some great passing and attacks coming forward. Within the last 10 minutues it looked as though we could score, but alas not! The defence stayed strong and organised within the seciond half and kept Deeside's key players at bay keeping the score line to 1 nil.

The positives are the team are playing very well, with some very young teenagers mixed in with the more experianced players. Maybe next week we may change our tactics again and play 2 up front and see what happens!!!

Onwards and upwards! Our Time is coming.

Player of the match was our Goalkeeper Theresa, Fabulous saves Theresa, you are our wee star ;-))
