BROOKLANDS LADIES 3s -v- ALDERLEY EDGE LADIES 3s

The first match for the Mighty Ducks in their new league on a breezy showery day at Brooklands.

With no opportunity to have any pre- season friendlies it was a tense start to the match but those pre-match nerves and tension were soon dispelled as the Mighty Ducks warmed into their game.

It took a while for the first goal but it came from Cat White, closely followed by goals from Becky Loonan and Becky Latham.

It was a tough first half with great play from both teams, but it ended 3 nil up to the home team with only a modicum of swearing from the Captain....

At half time, the majority of the team moaned about the varying stages of exhaustion (though that wasn't the word used on the pitch) and those with colds and coughs (including Emily Chandler who valiantly soldiered through the whole game) tried desperately to drown out the half time talk from coach Beth Alvey (with support from mum to be Susan Pritchard).

The second half started positively with Becky Latham scoring her second goal of the match. A further two goals in very quick succession from Cat White secured her hat trick for the match. Not to be left out and desperate to have some attention at the other end of the pitch, Pamela Dixon then proceeded to do a superb commando roll to distract the Alderley attack and entertain the spectators.

A couple of excellently defended short corners by the Brooklands defence kept the score at 6 nil to the home team before Becky Latham scored the final goal of the match, securing her hat trick! Brooklands kept Alderley at bay in the final minutes of the match and Becky Latham having scored her hat trick survived a nasty collision with the Alderley defence with only mild concussion..(nothing that a lie down and a few jelly babies didn't sort out).

The final score Brooklands Ladies 3s 7 - Alderley Edge 3s - 0

A fantastic game and a superb start to the new season...the winning streak continues for the Mighty Ducks.

MOM - was awarded to Lottie Kielty & very well deserved too.

DOD - was awarded (yet again!) to Pamela Dixon (Capt) for her fantastic commando, comedy roll....

Opposition MOM - awarded to Shandy - again very well deserved.
