Even the Cows didn't get in the way of stopping the Ducks

Triton Ladies 2s -v- Brooklands 3s (aka the Mighty Ducks)

The Ducks travelled to Alsager on a cool cloudy day to try and retain their winning form.

Pam lead the convoy down the M6 with Susan (and baby bump) as co-driver....though Susan did arrive at Alsager somewhat paler after Pam's driving....after a few navigational issues the team arrived at the MMU Campus Alsager and regrouped.

Tritons started strongly while Brooklands got to grips with the slightly slower sandier pitch but the Ducks soon got moving and the great attacking play started with pressure by Katie Cuttle (reminding her old team of her power and speed in midfield). End to end play ensued with one of the first chances of a goal coming from Ellie Cronin. Another great break by Ellie with a through ball to Shandy who was unlucky not to score, followed immediately by another great ball through to Rhi who again was unlucky not to score.

The Ducks kept the pressure on with a great run and attack by Keelin (playing up from the Ladies 4s) with the Ducks unlucky not to get a short corner awarded.

Izzy Ham had a shot on goal only for it to go wide. Tritons responded to all the pressure on their goal and pressed forward to be rewarded with a short corner. Sophie tried to clear only for another short corner to be awarded. Pam attempted to save the short corner and ended up conceding a penalty flick for saving the goal with her foot on the line! Despite a protest by Pam, the penalty flick was awarded but ultimately brilliantly saved by Luci! Pam roared at the ducks to inject some energy, and Shandy, Izzy Ham, and Ellie kept the pressure up on the Tritons defence but frustratingly that first goal eluded the Ducks.
Another attack and superb pressure from the midfield and another opportunity for the Ducks but Becky Latham hit it wide!

Tritons tried to inject pressure too, but great play in defence by Amy kept them at bay. Rhi had another fantastic run through and a has a shot on goal for it to be saved by Tritons. Tritons responded breaking clear and getting through our defence to have one of their few attacks on goal...a scary moment ensued as Luci ended up on the ground, the crowd held their breath but after some scrabbling, the defence cleared....

The half time whistle blew and the story of the first half was so many chances but still no goal. Pam urged strength and pressure to get their elusive goal in the 2nd half.

The second half commenced with any sun well and truly behind the threatening clouds, and Susan attempting to keep her and bump warm.

The second half started well with a short corner quickly awarded but the ball steadfastly refused to go in the net. All the pressure is on the Tritons goal with one lucky break by Tritons which was quickly dealt with by Pam. At last!!! Another short corner and Sophie Mac succeeds where others have failed and gets the first goal of the match in...not only the first goal of the match but Sophie's first goal for Brooklands!
Katie Cuttle inspired by the first goal capitalises on another opportunity, shoots and makes it goal number 2! The Ducks were back on it!

The Ducks not satisfied with just 2 goals kept up the pressure while Luci looked a little cold and bored in goal.

Great play continued by the Brooklands defence to keep Tritons well and truly at bay and despite being awarded yet another short corner, it wasn't to be a 3rd goal for the ducks. Amelia keeps up the pressure in midfield despite some heckling/support from friends and family on the sideline.

The match finished with a final scoreline of 2 nil to Brooklands Ladies 3s. A great well fought match with lots of pressure on the opposition.

The teams retired to the clubhouse for the teas to be hosted by Tritons with the local delicacy North Staffs Oatcakes.

Oppositions MOM - Amelia.

Players MOM - Nominations for Shandy, Luci, Amelia, Pam & Katie - final award (though very close) to Amelia.

DOD - Nominations for Becky Latham, Ellie Cronin, and of course.....Pam....and the vote went to Pam for the dramatics at the beginning of the match when she thoughts the match balls had been stolen...

And while celebrating the win, the Ducks were Top of the League...and by the time all the match results were in remained on top of the table at close of play Saturday night....

The team headed back home though not via the M6 but via country roads where Pam decided to try and converse with some cows who foolishly got in her way....

The winning streak continues and the Mighty Ducks build in strength and confidence.
