Today's match was always going to be a tough one for the girls, playing against 4th in the league Manchester Manto 1. They were unsure how the game would go, as this is a brand new team to them after the reshuffle, and when the other team arrived they realised that they would have to work hard, as they looked like an experienced team of older ladies. This was definitely the case, as the girls were under pressure pretty quickly. They were able to hold them off for a bit but gaps were left and Man Manto were able to get a few goals in during the first half. The girls did have some good runs up the pitch, with some excellent passing round the other team, but could not get any clear shots on goal. It started raining through the first half and a number of people on both teams slipped over, which meant there were a few injuries to clean up at half time. During the team talk, coach Nicola Carrie, tried to help the girls, by getting them to think about what they should be doing at free hits, to stop the ball from getting so quickly to their D, and reshuffled some players to try and stop play coming down the left. These changes worked for a bit, but the Manto ladies were very fast and the 4's girls found it hard to stop them coming down the left and getting to the circle to score. The 7-0 was a disappointing result but there were definite positives to take away. The girls will be playing Uni of Manchester woman's 2nd team for their next game, and last before Christmas. They are hoping to get back to scoring some goals.
