Wimbledon's results this season have showed they are getting back to the very high level of 4-5 years ago, furthermore they were buoyed by two more GB players returning into their squad for the first time . Their quality allowed them to play a high press we really strangled us trying to move the ball upfield.
It was constant pressure on defence throughout. Two early corners were saved well, but the writing was on the wall.
Completely out of the blue Ben Wallace, drifted straight through the middle of Wimbledon's defence and smashed a shot against the base of the post. Sadly the umpire missed the 'obvious' foot the shot had hit and our rare foray into attack ended.
The endless pressure told when in the 27th minute Peter Scott opened the scoring for them. We held it to that at half time but the small gathering of the Brookland's faithful on the sidelines weren't overly confident for the second half. Scott's second was quickly followed by a brace of corners for Eddie Way and then Kimber and Condon finished off the scoring.
Bizarrely the umpires blew 2 minutes early for the end of the 3rd quarter, so we had the strange sight of the fourth quarter being 2 minutes longer and us given the ball at the start to continue the promising attack that was prematurely brought to an end... Trust me, it didn't affect the result, but baffled the large crowd and no doubt the followers on the BrooklandsUpdate WhatsApp group who were treated to a "3Q finished" message rapidly followed by "3Q restarted!!" message.

With Felix (and Seb/Luis/Alex in the 2s) away with England age group stuff, it meant a first team debut for 16 year old Jack Artist who held his own against a very fine team. Felix and Jack are the first two players to play for the 1st team, who haven't played adult hockey elsewhere, since Alex Robertson (son of Tonto) way back in 2008.
