The second derby in two weeks saw Mulfords Men face Timperley and it was sure to be a test in character as well as an eye opener for those who haven’t experience the local clash.

The game began with Brooklands imposing a typical aggressive approach not allowing Timperley time to play or maintain possession. Brooklands were patient maintaining possession and tiring the opposition. It was apparent right from the off Brooklands meant business and were in control.

The deadlock was finally broken with a moment of class from Nick Jeffs, he was found in minimal space in the D from a precise pass from Nick Little. To those who hadn’t experienced Jeffs’ keen eye for goal before it would appear he had missed his opportunity to strike. However, when his Ronaldinho esk no look upright reverse nestled its way into the bottom corner his keen eye for goal became apparent.

Wolfenden failed to continue his epic penalty corner form, which could be accounted to Mulford jinxing him by boosting his already overly large ego before the game. The atmosphere on the Brooklands side was showing a superior level of trust and belief in team member’s abilities. This was evident when the second went in with Road Runner himself David Mills & Matthew Leigh having some real chemistry, with Leigh looking as though he’s left his school days behind with some creative passing. This lead to Gilbody for the second week running finding himself in the position to tap in, with Lakin-Hall well and truly rooted on the penalty spot missing out queuing to put it in.

A free hit taken quickly from Andrews led to the third with a pass to Gilbody with a nifty deflection to leave Timperley keeper wrong footed to claim his second. Fullerton, Dudley & Jeffs combined well for a Dudley goal only for it to be disallowed, the score remained 3-0. The fourth followed with Andrews slipping Lakin-Hall in who attempt to find Mills at the far post found Leigh sniffing at back post to calmly tuck it home. The fifth came from an inch perfect pass from Jeffs which found Andrews back post to bundle it in.
Clapham on his return from the 3rd XI did not look out of place in a very strong back line. It was looking like a clean sheet for Richmond until Sidebotham caught his moustache on the post leaving him bamboozled only to concede a penalty flick and ruin Richmond’s clean sheet. Strong performances also from Van Bentum & Virabi despite Virabi continuing his 100% record of passing to at least one opposition forward every game
.
A wonderful 5-1 victory for Mulfords Men secured them a further 3 points to add to the healthy looking points tally so far. A home fixture against Durham Uni are the next on the list for Brooklands, Sat 29th Nov 1.30pm
