The 4s travelled to fellow high flyers Neston hoping for a win that would help them keep pace with the early leaders.
Despite calls for a fast start, Neston dominated the opening spell. Taking advantage of Mark d'Souza and Joe Evans arguing over the size of their manhood, Neston capitalised, taking an early lead.
Neston, smelling blood, threw everything at us. Unfortunately for the hosts, that didn't amount to an awful lot. After a spell of pressure, Brooklands won a corner, converted in typically clinical style by Khares.
With Brooklands back in control, Matt d'Souza led a counter attack, finding Tom Kellet free in the circle. Kellet calmly rounded the goalkeeper only to be wiped out as he was set to score, clear stroke? Well to everyone apart from umpire Kim Jun Alcock who waved play on! Fortunately Matt d'Souza kept his head, winning the ball back and feeding the bloodied Kellet to tap the ball in.
The half time message was simple; be patient and win the game. Brooklands dominated possession, creating a string of chances. With 10 minutes to go Kellet found himself free in the circle, and calmly slotted his second of the game, giving Brooklands a well deserved 3-1 victory.
Next week, Brooklands face table topping Timperley (not a sentence often heard) at the unfamiliar setting of Brooklands Hockey Club. Game On!
