The 6’s again took the place of the 5’s this weekend, and took the field with 10 men and a rookie keeper, so knew from the start that it could be a long day!

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Brooklands created a number of chances in the first half despite not having much of the ball, with the front three of James M, Dan J and Freddie T running their socks off.

Stockport used their extra man and scored generally from ‘sweaty’ tap ins, despite some stout defending from Alan S, Cam L and Patrick B, and also from Ollie B who decided the ankle tap from behind would stop him chasing their youngsters for a while!

The second half was much the same, with Brooklands creating a number of chances on the break, and when Stockport Bramhall went down to 10 men for the last 10 minutes, dominated the game and finished strongly with Alan S scoring from a short corner.

A chastening experience, however, the coach was proud of the team who never stopped running and gave 110% for the whole game, with old stager Carpo and Ted B (despite finding he had Covid) putting a huge shift in the middle of the park

On to next week, and hopefully a stronger squad to pick from.
