Brooklands arrived at Timperley on the back of a hard earned win the previous week, and after a
couple of late cry offs and James M depositing his breakfast / previous night’s beer ( delete as
appropriate) on the side of the pitch started brightly against a vastly more experienced team.
The first half especially, the lads produced some excellent hockey, with Cam L controlling the game
from his new position in midfield and with the willing runners of Ted B, Rich P and Ollie B created a
couple of chances, the closest being Rich P’s reverse stick nutmeg of the keeper, that was cleared off
the line.
However, late in the first half a Timperley break saw Guy M, tactically bring down a Timperley
attacker in our 23, and the resulting short corner ended up in the back of the net via the keeper’s
pad and despite Alan S’s attempted clearance on the line.

The second half then became slightly stretched as the team went looking for the equaliser, a lot of
possession and good hockey in Timperley’s half, unfortunately didn’t translate into many chances
being created. With Guy M, Tom B and Fergus B shoring up the defence a late flurry of half chances
came and went and the game ended with the team losing by the only goal of the game.
A game where a lot of positives could be taken, with every single player putting in a full shift.
