vs Whitley Bay & Tynemouth

Saturday welcomed an improved Whitley Bay & Tynemouth team who arrived the only team undefeated in the Women's Investec North Conference to date. The sole aim of the BP girls was to make amends for a very disappointing draw versus Cannock a couple of weeks ago. You may not have realised this if you were watching the first half of the game! A very disjointed and chaotic performance was not exactly the first half desired. Some stern words at half time plus a reminder that we were actually only 1-0 down and that it was more than possible to get back into the game and turn it around seemed to get our brains and bodies in gear. A much improved second half performance ensued, with goals from Evs, Vezza and Baxter all from close range. With the scoreline at 3-1 there were still chances at either end, with Whitley Bay ensuring a few nervous minutes towards the latter stages. Some heroic defending from Berry late on ensured Whitley Bay got another short corner (rather than a goal!). Despite the drama the home side we're happy to take all 3 points, winning 3-1. All be it a ropey start (video evidence!), the BP girls demonstrated resilience and determination to fight back to become the first team to defeat the North East outfit. Next up will be Ben Rhydding away. This will mark the half way stage in the season in terms of games played and 3 points are needed to keep at the right end of the table.
