Sunday saw the final 16 teams play in the Investec Women's Knock out cup. Brooklands Poynton travelled to Liverpool Sefton for the second time this season, the first seeing a 5-0 victory for BP. This fixture was to be quite different. It was a promising start to the game with BP enjoying the greater possession and creating opportunities despite the defensive set up of the home side. Liverpool certainly had aimed to catch BP on the break, and the tactics paid off pretty early on seeing them take the lead. The BP response was sufficient to create chances and win penalty corners but missed chances, and some good saves, once again seemed to be proving frustrating for BP. The second half was too lacklustre and as time ticked on further good opportunities were rued and the game finished 1-0 to Liverpool. A disappointing performance following yesterday’s league victory, however the team will look to demo some bounce back ability next weekend, more determined than ever!
