The 2s headed up to the beach to play Lytham 1s in cold and windy conditions. Brooklands started strong against a high press from Lytham, with a solid work rate across the pitch throughout the game.
Good link up play between the lines created a number of opportunities in the first half forcing the Lytham keeper to make some good saves but unfortunately Brooklands couldn’t convert into an early lead. Lytham scored on the break in the last few minutes of the first half, making it 1-0 at half time.
The second half started with high intensity, setting the tone for a more heated half of hockey. Some physical play on both sides saw both teams with players down but Brooklands remained calm and held an aggressive Lytham midfield at bay. With the team back to 11 for the final 10 minutes of the game, some excellent play from Lisa in the D gave Brooklands a much-needed equaliser. Brooklands held off a final attack from Lytham, taking a solid point away from a tough game.
MOM went to Katie for excellent saves and great work in 1v1s when Lytham were on the break. DOD went to Georgia for a yellow card, running off the pitch before the card was out the umpires pocket.
